The Town of Portsmouth and the Southeast New England Program Network (SNEP) are holding a public workshop from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, to engage the community in the development of a climate resilience planning and financing strategy for the town.

Those interested may attend in person in the Council Chambers at Portsmouth Town Hall, 2200 East Main Road, or via Zoom at livestream.portsmouthri.com/Resiliency.

In response to significant climate hazards (flooding, severe storms) that threaten Portsmouth’s capital infrastructure and overall resilience, the town is building on efforts to identify concerns and potential adaptations by working to refine its methods of prioritizing resilience infrastructure projects and to develop a sustainable financing strategy.

Those efforts expand upon previous community-based resilience planning activities, such as the municipal resilience program workshop and Hazard Mitigation Plan.

On Oct. 7, participants will be briefed on the draft prioritized list of resilience capital infrastructure improvement projects and other findings of the climate resilience planning and financing project developed by the Town of Portsmouth and members of the Climate Resilience Workgroup (CRWG) with assistance from the SNEP Network Project Team [comprised of staff from Throwe Environmental and Elizabeth Scott Consulting].
