Project Description

Since 2025, Throwe has served as the Field Liaison for the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s (NFWF) Great Lakes Grant Programs (GLGP), including the Sustain Our Great Lakes (SOGL) Program, the Chi-Cal Rivers Fund, the Southeast Michigan Resilience Fund, and the Conservation Partners Program (CPP)

To date, SOGL has awarded $140M to 529 projects that support restoration in the Great Lakes basin, leveraging $181M in match for a total conservation impact of $323M. Since 2013, Chi-Cal has awarded $16M to 72 projects across the Chicago and Calumet regions, leveraging $30M in match for a total conservation impact of $46M. Since 2018, the SE Michigan Resilience Fund has awarded $10.5M to 44 projects to increase the resilience of communities and natural resources across the region. Since 2011, CPP has awarded more than $85 million to 322 projects supporting voluntary conservation partnerships on private, working lands.

As GLGP Field Liaisons, Throwe provides one-on-one assistance to communities as they seek to develop competitive proposals. Throwe’s work with GLGP supports potential grantees across the entire Great Lakes Basin as they develop project proposals for all of NFWF’s Great Lakes programs.
